I think you might have misunderstood me, however. What I meant by the phrase “truly instrumental popular style of music” is “a style of popular music that does not rely on vocals or the human voice and instead relies upon other sounds (instrumentals).” If you think about it that way, it makes sense. Rhythm and blues, funk, rock, disco, etc are all great styles of popular music, but they all rely very heavily on vocals and are fundamentally based upon the concept of “song,” the joining of words and music. Dubstep, and all forms of electronic dance music, not as much. If you look at the history of popular music (in America at least), the last time truly popular music for the masses did not require the use of the human voice for it’s success was the Big Band era.

Hemm… adam… I love your stuff and your kind of “15th degree sense of humor” you put in your vids’. I’m a bassist too (french one, sorry for my broken english in advance) and most of your bass’ tips had brought lot of informations, specially the chords” series. I love your compoisitions too, you bring your identity and knowledge, it’s not a kind of “brain masturbating” I think lol!

BUT !!lately by reading this sentence, I asked to myself “hey adam, did you smoke too much grass lately??” in french we say “t’as fumé la moquette ou quoi [kwa] ??”.

What about rythm n’ blues, funk, rock, and disco ? I don’t have same knowledge than yours indeed, I’m a self teaching artist, but anyway, this sentence…… duuuude !!
